my comfort room experience

Yesterday, with a heavy heart, I went to NCCC Mall to meet with my mother and sister. We went to my Aunt’s Birthday Party. But minutes before that, I visited the comfort room. As I washed my hand, my mind was floating and my heart was heavy. (so stressed!) Anyway, I heard a cute little voice scolding her companion. “huwag ka lagi mag-upo bah!”(don’t sitdown) “oh,baka madulas ka”(you might slip). As I washed and rubbed my hands, waiting for my mother and sister to arrive, I heard her again, “ate, may tissue ka?” (ate, do you have tissue?)and the woman just answered “wala”(I don’t have). As for me, I always bring tissue everyday. So I immediately told her “meron akong tissue” (I have tissue). I don’t know what she’s going to do with it but she just smiled and said “ate,nagpoopoo kasi kapatid ko, wala kaming tissue eh” (ate, my brother just pooped and we don’t have toilet paper”). I gave her sheets of toilet paper. She even told me that she got her mother’s cellphone and I guess she wanted me to get the number or what. Anyway, I just received my sister’s text message and went out of the comfort room.
At the back of my mind, that girl was like 8 years old. And she’s helping her sister or his brother. I am touched by her kindness. Indeed, she’s a loving “ate” (big sister). But as I walked at the exit door, I asked myself, where was her mother? Hhhmmm…
